In her freshman year at Miami, she was on the collegiate team that won the national championships. Now a sophomore, she and her team are preparing to represent Team USA next month at international competitions in Sweden and France.

“If we place in the top two, we’ll go to the world championships,” Bennett said.

Getting to that level requires her to spend about 20 hours a week practicing. But the sport has been her passion since she attended an open skate at age 4…
