Vincent Zhou vowed to improve after getting marked down this season for not fully rotating quadruple jumps.

The teen from Palo Alto didn’t let himself down. He got better — way better. Since struggling in the fall Grand Prix season Zhou finished the season Saturday with a commanding performance to win the bronze medal at the 2019 figure skating World Championships.

Zhou, 18, joined U.S. teammate Nathan Chen on the podium in Saitama, Japan, a year after finishing sixth at the Pyeongchang Games in South Korea and then 14th at the 2018 World Championships.

Zhou scored a personal best 186.99 points in his free skate for 281.16 points overall…
