Since 2012, the Peninsula Chicago has raised over $120,000 for two Chicago children’s charities: Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Hephzibah Children’s Association. All proceeds from the rink, including skate rentals and food and beverage purchases, are donated to the charities.

When guests walk out to the terrace, they are greeted by a pine tree winter wonderland. The rink is surrounded in décor and glows with snowflake lighting, and there is also a chalet offering guests a selection of hot beverages and snacks including hot chocolate, hot cider, and other treats. You may even be lucky and see Santa, Elf on the Shelf, and Peter the Bear.

“We have to make it look very festive, because we want to be the most festive place in the city, so lots of trees, lots of décor, and of course out chalet, which also serves hot chocolate and hot toddies for the adults,” he said. “The Peninsula Chicago really prides itself in being one of the most festive places in Chicago.”
