After about a year and a half of construction, the Glenview Community Ice Center is ready to welcome residents back for a grand reopening and month-long celebration.

Glenview Park District officials will reopen the facility, 1851 Landwehr Road, on Sept. 12 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Throughout the month of September they’re also inviting people to “be one of the first” to skate on the new ice in the updated building through a series of free reopening activities.

“This project has been years in the making, and we are so excited to welcome our Glenview skaters home,” spokeswoman Jena Johnson said.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the grand reopening event will be limited but will be live-streamed on the Park District’s Facebook page
