Figure Skating, a Growing Sport in this State
(HARRINGTON, Del.) – Before Winter Wonderfest came to town three years ago, Sussex County in Delaware had never seen an ice rink.The closest one was the Centre Ice Rink in Harrington. When it opened in 2002 the Bay Country Figure Skating Club made it their home. Over the years it has given skaters from across Delmarva the opportunity to take lessons and ultimately be cast in shows and compete. Bella Metz of Rehoboth Beach is one of them.
“I have been skating since I was 5 and I started skating at Bay Country Figure Skating Club when I was 6. My favorite part about ice skating is probably getting to know everyone and making friends and just having fun and doing the shows,” Bella says.
