The 2019 U.S. Figure Skating Championship was a smash hit in Detroit. Not a whack this time. Thank goodness.

So what’s next?

The Detroit Sports Commission has started discussions to try to bring the World Figure Skating Championships to Detroit.

“I stress that right now, it’s nothing more than a conversation,” Kris Smith, the director of the Detroit Sports Commission, said.

Let’s hope it happens. It would be a great thing for Detroit.

Detroit has a world-class facility in Little Caesars Arena and hosting a world figure skating championship would be a tremendous opportunity to showcase Detroit’s rejuvenation — this time, to the entire world.
